Ahh, dota is so fun, especially when players are picking on eachother. Here’s a selection of cool moments from pro games(could have added more, but there are many many funny moments which involved racism, excessive swearing, etc etc, so i couldn’t really post them up here.

Really. Heroes and Prison Break are becoming a new version of Lost,  their creators keep on lenghtening them without realizing that they are becoming like chewing gums.

At Heroes after the death of his father Nathan instantly became evil and wants to continue his father’s work and to kill Peter. He also reveals to the president the “secrets” about his friends, excluding himself of course. Instead of ending the movie Tim Kring had to make him evil in order to continue production, and by this way a new chapter begins: “Fugitives”.

In Prison Break everything started with Scofield wanting to save his brother. He saved his brother, they got into trouble and had to steal scylla. Now he got his brain surgery and only hours after the surgery he can walk and think clearly. The thing that b0thers him now is that Scylla is a good thing and it might help human kind evolve to alternative energy, the 100% conversion of the sun’s  power to energy( B Ar Ga In). Now really who the f*ck cares so much about the rest of the world? This movie should have ended a long time ago after breaking his brother out of prison. Yet the creator of the movie decided to continue the story which is getting really boring as we speak.

I have a feeling that i will stop watching both series, just like i did with Lost when it became so boring that it was enough for me to watch the beginning and the end of an episode.

As we progress in the 21st century we keep changing outdated and old stuffs to more modern and more efficient items. This refers to Santa also, who put down his slain and let Rudolph live his ever-wanted reindeer life, by switching to a brand new Audi R8 Christmas edition.

I don’t know about the speed of his old slain, but i know that the R8 has 420 HP and can reach 301km/h. There isn’t much storage space in the R8, and because of this Santa may need to get a trailer add-on for his new acquisition.

The R8 Christmas edition took part in several publicity stunts in Holland.

Here are some pics of the cool R8 Christmas Edition:

I know i’m posting this a bit late, but it’s better late than never!

Open Web Awards had a total number of 50,000  nominations, 80,000 total votes in the first round, and 90,000 votes in the final round! Basically OWA 2008 was a big success!

Mainstream & Large Scale Social Networks

Winner: Netlog
Runner-up: Platinum Lounge

It was pretty much expected that Netlog will win the final race. The only surprise was that Platinum Lounge made it to second place. A bit weird, but great for Platinum Lounge

Winner: Qoof
Runner-up: Sprout

I would have chosen Sprout over Qoof, just for the basic reason that sproutbuilder gives you more flexibility.

WOOT! ShareThis won! This was a very close battle between the two companies and due to the many plugin users.

Social News

Winner: Help a Reporter Out
Runner-up: Hubdub

Nothing to comment here.

Social Networking Applications

Winner: Artition
Runner-up: Digsby

IMO the applications differ in way too many points to be able to make comparison between them. Overall, i would prefer Digsby over Artition simply for the features that socialize you.

Winner: Diigo
Runner-up: ShareThis

DIGG didn’t win!, however Diggo won which is a great website which connects all types of people and where you can really find great sites(unlike on SU).

In this category TinyPic = fail, really. I can’t really imagine howcome it only got to second place and didn’t conquer the top of the pyramid.

Winner: ffwd
Runner-up: YouTube

FFWD is the best video sharing network which gathers the best videos on the web, it’s cool that youtube didn’t get the 1st place.

What could i comment here? Winner: Google, runner up: (iGoogle) Google. I think it’s impossible for Google to beat himself.

Winner: Doodle
Runner-up: Muchmor

Not much to comment here either. I only have one thing to say: wasn’t this supposed to be a contest for global audience? Who cares about discovering Canada besides canadians?

Winner: SpottedByLocals
Runner-up: GeckoGo

SpottedByLocals is one of the best websites you can use to get guidelines, pictures and stories about cities all around the world! It really deseves first place.

Runner-up: Last.fm

Oh no! Last.fm didn’t get first place :(. IMO nothing can beat Last.fm, especially now that it got accquired by CBS.

Compare before you buy! pikaba helps you choose from a huge variety of stores and products. Even though you can find great offers, i prefer shopping from trusted websites.

How-to

afullcup
Winner: A Full Cup
Runner-up: College Cram

Being a college student i have to go with College Cram which is a great resource for students, and even though some would consider using ideas plagiarism, it’s better to have ideas and get a passing grade than not getting a passing grade.

Environmental

Winner: Ecomii
Runner-up: Gazelle

I like Gazelle more just for the basic fact of their slogan: “Get Cash for your Gadgets”. Basically Gazelle buys your out-of-use gadgets.

Non-Profit Causes

Winner: Stop Political Calls
Runner-up: SocialVibe

I really like SocialVibe which helps you gather funding for benefical causes. It’s a great thing to help those in need.

Winner: The Star Tracker
Runner-up: Wadja

I The Star Tracker applies only for Portughese people, not for everyone, and because of this i wouldn’t have granted it first place.

Phew, 2 weeks have passed since i last posted. Those 2 weeks were some f*cked up weeks.

Lots of college projects:

It’s that time of the year when it’s my turn to make projects for 10 classes. This means that i actually had to read some books(well a part of them) and extensively document for each project. I still have some projects to turn in but those aren’t considered tough classes.

Medical checkups:

I had to go on a TBC test(6 months have passed since last checkup) and thank God it’s negative(phew, what a relief)

Problems over problems

About 2 weeks ago i was at a bar wih a friend and his two sisters and 2 guys started picking on the girls, my friend stepped up and i backed him -> it turned into a bar fight. I got the left side of my lip hit. I tried to break a beer bottle on a guy’s head(just like in the movies), but it didn’t work for me: the bottle didn’t break and the guy fainted for about 30 seconds.

One of my friends involuntarily and innocently got into a fight and he got his shoulder hit with a baseball bat. His shoulder got cracked, and he got tied up at the hospital, but he’s back to normal now.

tend to make BIG issues out of medical conditions, and because i also tend to look up stuff on the internet sometimes i get paranoid and actually think that i have the disease i read about.(call this weird), so now i decided to visit a shrink and see what she says.

Anyway, everything will be back to normal soon :)

As the title suggests this movie is related to the scary, date, epic movies, meaning that it’s a parody. As so we have a lot of superheroes spoofed,a lot of scenes taken and spoofed from movies like Batman, Spiderman,

Fantastic 4 etc oh and a happy ending. It has some cliches a few old jokes but overall you can have a good laugh. The main plot revolves around the Spiderman plot so it should be well known . Here we have Rick Rider(Drake Bell) who’s a  not so cool boy being late for the bus, wearing dorky glasses(Spiderman) being in love with a hot chick Jill Johnson (Sara Paxton) who happens to be he’s next door neighbor.

The class goes on a science trip to a pharmaceutical company where they check out bio-engineered animals where Rick happens to get bitten by a radioactive dragonfly. Developing superhuman attributes he goes on fighting crime getting into trouble and finally battling the evildoer  in the movie Lou Landers aka Hourglass(Christopher McDonald). As always good wins over evil and there you have it happy ending as mentioned before.

Many Web designers use tools besides photoshop which make their lives easier. These are tools made by design community members for the rest of the community. Here are a few of them:

1) Tiled Backgrounds Designer

When it comes to tiled background patterns BgPatterns.com is there to help. This handy generator allows you to create, modify and test out tiled backgrounds which you can download after you are happy with the results.

At the pattern editing you can define the pattern and background color, the canvas size and texture, the preset image(with scaling and opacity modifying possibility), and you are also able to rotate the pattern.

If you don’t want to create your own pattern you can simply browse and download member created patterns.

2) Blind Text Generator

If you are tired of using Lipsum.com to generate dummy text to fill your designs BlindTextGenerator.com is just the right tool for you! The tool allows you to generate dummy text from several sources like Lipsum, Kafka, Cicero, Pangram and allows you to preview how the text would look like in a box with the width, font and line spacing specified by you.

You may also define the number of paragraphs/characters that you want to generate. This tool clearly says: its time to let lipsum.com go!

3) Watermark your designs

PicMarkr.com allows you to easily watermark your images in 3 steps. You upload the preview of your design, select watermark type(Text, image or stripe) and download the watermarked image which you will share with your customer. Simple as that.

The best part is that you can select the watermark text, image AND stripe, by this way you got more flexibility than ever in your hands. After you’re done you also have the possibility to upload the image(s) to your flickr account.

4) Vectorize your images

Even though everyone knows that wizards applications don’t create perfect outcomes Vectormagic.com is pretty close to flawlessly vectorizing images. It’s cool if you created a logo and want to print it on your shirt you will need it to be vectorized. If you re very short on cash i recommend this tool, but if you have $5 to spare than you can get a perfect vector image from a freelance vectorizer.

5) Stripe Designer

Imo Stripedesigner.com is a must for every web designer. This nifty generator allowss you to generate cool stripe patterns for your designs. It also provides a cool feature which allows you to preview it on different colored backgrounds, this way you can determine that the stripe will 100% fit your design. Awsome!

6) Stripe Generator

The most used stripe generator on the whole wide world! Stripegenerator.com is the #1 source to create and to get stripes for your designs! You can define the stripe size, alignment, color, background color and shadows. If your not satisifed with the outcome you can always head over to the showcase section and download stripes created by other users.

Lots of friends and fellow bloggers keep telling me that i write too much about my life and random mumbo-jumbo and that i should write more posts about design resources.

I couldn’t agree more! So for this reason i created a brand new category - Design Resources in which you will find resources for web designers, tools and design-related websites.

Enjoy!
